I've Finally Updated My Spotify Playlist!

Hello!!!

If you're not new to me, you'll know that I've started a weekly playlist over on Spotify! If you are new to me, well now you know! Anyway, it's quite funny that I've been calling it a weekly playlist because recently, it's been anything but. However, with the launch of my new website, I think it is time to get more active on that!

So, the way this playlist works is that for every album I listen to, I add my favourite song from the record (assuming that I like at least one song) to the playlist. Now, since the last time I updated the playlist, I listened to around 80 albums...

Yes, I have doubled the number of songs on the entire playlist all in one update! When I update the playlist weekly, as was the intention when I started it, I hope to add around 7 songs a week. It all depends how many albums or EPs I listen to during the week. Also, on that topic, if anyone has any albums or EPs they recommend I listen to, please do let me know, my list is getting worryingly thin.

The last thing I plan to do every week is to give a list of songs that I added for that week as well as shed some light on my favourites that stood out. There is no way I'm going to list all 80 songs that I added today because; 1. That is so uninteresting to read, 2. I want to incentivise you to go listen to and follow the playlist, and 3. That's looooooooong. However, I will quickly talk about my favourites of this week.

1. A You-Shaped Hole - Twin Mannequin

I was given the privilege of being able to hear this before it was released and oh boy, is that an honour. This song is just so amazing, it's anthemic on a whole new level that I didn't know existed until I first listened. And apparently the radio presenters over at BBC agreed, because it was picked to be played on BBC Introducing South as well as her most recent single, Sticky Shoes (which between you and me, is only a week away from being added to this playlist, I just don't want to add two songs from the same artist in one week!). This album is going to be what people call "an absolute banger" and I cannot wait for it to be released.

2. Above The Clouds Of Pompeii - Bear's Den

I started listening to Bear's Den when a guy called Cam that I met whilst I was still at National Youth Choir recommended them to me. In fact, I believe he showed this specific song and I loved it so much, I haven't really stopped listening to since! I'm surprised it took me so long to finally watch the music video, but wow. I mean, wow. It's such a simple concept, but it says everything it needs to and more. Anyway, that's all I have to say, just go watch the video ;)

3. Anno Satana - The Smashing Pumpkins

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting big things when I started listening to this album and I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe it's because I had recently spent 6 hours listening to their album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. Maybe I just wasn't as enthusiastic because my brain couldn't properly appreciate the amount of effort that goes into a 6 hour album. Anyway, the point is that this album, CYR, took my breath away. It absolutely blew my expectations out of the water and this song is just one of 20 great songs that sit on this album.

Anyway, that's all from me this week! Hope you enjoy! If you want to find me on any socials, you can find me @rightaboutjack across all of them. This was a lot of fun to write, so I look forward to writing up next week's update! Also, have a look around the rest of the website! That would be really cool!

Hope you're all well,

Jack Schwab
